Scott Haus added to his all-time leading late model total with a Friday
night win at the Bedford Speedway.
Haus, of Hamburg grabbed the top spot on lap five and had to fend off late
race challenges from Jason Covert before capturing his 35th career win at
the speedway. He has won at least one feature every year since the 1995
season.
Haus’ win was his area leading third overall this season in super late
model competition.
Covert finished second ahead of Jack Pencil, Nick Dickson and Steve
Everhart.
Chad McClellan raced to the win in the limited late model 25 lap
championship event over Rick Singleton, Derek Byler, Andy Teno and Tim
Smith, Jr. Defending Williams Grove 358 late model champion Tyler Hershey
finished second but was light at the post race weigh-in and was
disqualified. Newville’s Donnie Farling did not start the feature event.
MCCLELLAND DOUBLES UP
Brad McClelland made it two straight wins Friday night as he raced to the
358 Sprint car feature win at Trail-Way Speedway.
Not only was the win the second this season for the Westminster, Maryland
driver but it was his 12th career at the track, tying him with Billy
Dietrich for the most all time wins at the Hanover facility.
He started eighth and raced his way by leader Jeff Rohrbaugh on lap 19 and
held on for the close win over Rohrbaugh with Dale Hammaker, Danny Dietrich
and Joe Trone, Jr. the top five.
Justin Mong picked up his first thundercar win of the season over Rick
Weaver, Larry Neiderer, Allan Cullum and Ronnie Thomas while Brad Kress
topped limited stock competition.
Saturday night racing at Trail-Way found Keith Woodson scoring the 600
Micro Sprint car feature win over Jimmy Brookens, Tim Dietz, Tim Glatfelter
and Enola’s Jake Murphy. Newville’s Timmie Barrick finished eighth and
Dillsburg’s Brianna Hershey dropped out with a 22nd finish.
JB Cunningham took top honors in 270 Micro action with a win over Billy
Laughman, Todd Hoover, Sean McAndrew and Tim McClelland and it was Nik Gower
scoring the win in the makeup 270 Micro feature that was rained out on April
26. He won over Cody Phillips, Hoover, Dave Schreiber and David Holbrook.
Jason Morrison won the 1000cc Sidewinders feature over Ryan Greth, Shawn
Seifert, Brent Marks and Tim Mertz with Carlisle’s Rohan Beasley 10th and
Mechanicsburg’s Chad Hough 20th.
SATURDAY NIGHT RAIN
Lincoln and Susquehanna Speedway’s were the only tracks to complete a
feature event on Saturday night as Mother Nature once again caused havoc
with the local racing scene.
Susquehanna completed its street stock main event which saw Newville’s Wes
Alleman score his first win of the season over Scott Thunberg, Joey Hoffer,
Doug Hoffman and Steven Dove.
Steve Buckwalter picked up the ARDC Midget win over Nick Wean, Frank
Polimeda, Tracy Readinger and Scott Lenig.
Carlisle’s Carl Billet was setting the pace in the 20 lap 358 late model
feature when rains hit the track. Billet will lead the field to the green in
the makeup race to be announced.
After completing all qualifying events, Hagerstown Speedway fell victim to
rain once again Saturday night.
The late model main event will be made up May 17th, while the late model
sportsman feature will be made up on May 23rd and the pure stocks on May
24th.
Williams Grove, Selinsgrove and Port Royal Speedway were all rained out
Saturday night.
OTHER WEEKEND ACTION
Blane Heimbach used a last lap pass to open the Clinton County Raceway
season with a 410/358 Sprint car win on Friday night. His cousin Matt led up
until two laps to go when he suffered a flat tire. Blane then passed Neil
Petock on the final lap for the win over Petock, Chuck Roan, Jr., Bob Howard
and Matt Horst.
Bo Gordon picked up another 600 Micro Sprint win Saturday at Shippensburg
Speedway over Carlisle’s Dave Thrush, Cale Reigle, Kenny Harris and
Carlisle’s Brandon Yarlett.
Keith Arnolt topped the thundercars, Eddie Kirby won the mini stocks and
Chas Clouser won the slick track event.
