Friday night’s O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions feature at Williams Grove Speedway had all the drama in place.

Current All Star points leader, former Posse now turned All Star regular Lance Dewease led the 24-car field to the green flag along side current Williams Grove Cindy Rowe Auto Glass points leader and all time leading track winner Fred Rahmer.

Could Dewease become the first ever All Star regular to win at Williams Grove after 17 tries for the traveling series.

 No such chance.

Rahmer blasted into the lead on the start and ran away from Dewease and the rest of the field to post the win in the non-stop 30 lap feature.

Dewease stayed within three-seconds of Rahmer during the early laps but Rahmer stretched his lead while putting cars a lap down and took the checkered flag a half track ahead of Cody Darrah.

The win was the second of the year for the Salfordville driver and his 76th career at Williams Grove.

“Obviously beating Lance into one was the trick,” said Rahmer, after his eighth overall win this season in the Chad and Jen Clemens owned No. 51 sprint car. “The track was a little cleaner out front and we got a good jump. I’ve raced here forever and I’ve never had the car like this, chassis-wise. It’s been working at the other tracks and it seems to work good here too. The track was tricky tonight, with a lot of loose stuff but once that cleaned off, my car felt really good. And I thought if they can drive by now, good for them.”

There wasn’t anyone driving by Rahmer on this night as he strengthened his already commanding lead in the track point battle.

Todd Shaffer made a few moves just past the halfway point, moving from sixth spot into fourth on lap 19 while Dewease kept Darrah at bay until lap 28 when the recent Red Lion High School graduate was able to get around Dewease for the runner-up spot.

 But Rahmer was long gone.

“Starting position, with the weather being so screwy this year has been the whole deal,” said Rahmer, after collecting $5,000 for the win. “I’d still rather win from 12th but when you get a chance to run with the All Stars and it’s $5,000 to win, it feels awful good to win from the front row too. They bring some good cars in here and we had some tough heat races tonight.”

Darrah was second with Dewease, of Fayetteville falling to third but adding to his All Star points lead as the only All Star regular to finish in the top 10. Fourth went to Shaffer, of Millerstown over Mifflintown’s Keith Kauffman.

Completing the top 10 were 14th starting Stevie Smith, Jeff Shepard, Sean Michael, 22nd starting Brian Montieth and Brian Leppo.

Darrah paced time trials with a fast lap of 17.030 seconds.

Heat races for the 40 car field were won by Dale Blaney, Cory Haas, Mark Smith and Ryan Bohlke. Leppo won the B-Main.

Williams Grove returns to action tonight with the Saturday Night Series featuring Super Sportsman, 358 late models, street stocks and 4-cylinders with racing beginning at 7 p.m.

PIT STOPS…Greg Hodnett, who timed 29th made a great final lap, final turn pass on Greg Wilson to grab the fourth and final transfer spot in the B-Main…John Westbrook was the night’s only flip victim after contact with Wilson on the first lap of the B-Main…The All Stars brought nine cars to town for the event…Last week’s winner AJ Michael failed to qualify…Lincoln Speedway hosts the All Stars tonight and then the series heads to Central PA Speedway Sunday night…
