When the extra cash is on the line, Blane Heimbach is always there in the end.

For the third year in a row, Heimbach came out on top of the annual Joe Whitcomb Memorial for 358 Sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night.
The race is run in memory of the late sprint car driver who sustained fatal injuries at the track in 2003.

Heimbach turned up the wick again Saturday night, driving by pole sitter Pat Cannon on lap five and driving off from the field to post a near five-second victory. The win was worth $2,071 to Heimbach and the Jeff and Missy Creasy owned team.

Cannon attempted to reel in the Selinsgrove speedster late in the race but smoke began to pour from Cannon’s Highlands Tire Service sprinter allowing Heimbach to post his 23rd career Selinsgrove win and second of the season.

Cannon held on for the runner-up finish ahead of Davie Franek, Joey Borich and Larry Kelleher.

Dover’s Coleby Frye picked up his first win of the year in the 25-lap late model feature as the checkered flag fell just in time as his race car broke at the checkered flag.
