It will be Round Number Two for the All Star Circuit of
Champions versus the Pennsylvania Posse this weekend.
The All Stars will make their final visit to Central PA for the
2009 season with races Friday at Williams Grove Speedway,
Saturday at Lincoln Speedway and Sunday at Clearfield’s Central
PA Speedway. Lincoln’s show will be the John Gleim 57th
Anniversary Show paying $5,700 to win.
Of course the big question remains is will the All Stars be
able to end a long winless streak at Williams Grove this
weekend. The Posse hold a 19-0 advantage over the traveling
series at the track, meaning no All Star regular has ever won at
Williams Grove in an All Star sanctioned event.
Just over a month ago, Todd Shaffer was in the midst of his hot
streak when he topped the All Stars at the Grove to keep the
streak alive. Shaffer won over Lance Dewease, Greg Hodnett,
Brian Montieth and Chad Layton as no All Star finished in the
top 10.
Fred Rahmer’s 500th career win came against the All Stars at
Lincoln back in May scoring the win over Doug Esh, Brian Leppo,
Alan Krimes and defending All Star champ Dale Blaney.
Sunday’s weekend finale will be a showdown for the All Stars
and Posse on a neutral track at Central PA where it was Mark
Smith taking the win during the 2008 event at the track ahead of
Hodnett and Blaney.
But the All Stars are coming off a big win against the World of
Outlaws just a few weeks back when Blaney scored the win at
Attica Raceway Park and just last weekend, Tim Shaffer won both
All Star events at Lernerville and Elkins Speedway, where
several members of the Posse were in competition.
Shaffer’s win at Lernerville came over Hodnett, Bob Felmlee,
Fred Rahmer and Mark Smith while he beat Brandon Wimmer, Justin
Henderson, Doug Esh and Dale Blaney at Elkins.
Shaffer leads the All Stars into town as the point leader over
Blaney and Greg Wilson as other All Stars expected include
rookies Ryan Bunton and David Gravel, Daron Clayton and Ryan
Myers.
Hodnett will be looking to add to his season win total as the
Thomasville driver has won at least one race during the last
three weekends in the Jim and Sandy Kline owned sprinter.
Hodnett and crew chief Lee Stauffer have found the winning
groove again and are looking for a three-win weekend against the
All Stars.
Joining Hodnett will be the likes of Stevie Smith, Cody Darrah,
Fred Rahmer, Shaffer, Esh, Leppo, Chad Layton, Mark Smith
Montieth and more with hopes of keeping the big money at home.
Time trials will set the lineups each night.
INJURED DRIVERS
Sprint car driver Lance Dewease wasn’t sure of his status when
we talked Monday night after suffering a crushed vertebra at
Lernerville Speedway on Friday night.
Dewease was scheduled to see an orthopedic doctor on Wednesday
and will know more about his injury and how much time he will
have to spend on the sidelines.
“ Right now I feel pretty good, “ Dewease said Monday evening.
“It just feels like my back is out and it’s not real painful.
But I will wait and see what the Doctor says. I already have a
few different types of treatments I’d like to try to help speed
things up but we’ll see what he says. I know one thing and that
is I’m not going to rush things. I want to be able to lift my
kid so I will make sure it’s healed right.”
The rear axle broke on the Dewease’s Catoctin Motorsports
sprinter during time trials on Friday night and he feels the car
landed hard on the framerails and his body took the brunt of the
impact.
It’s the first major injury of his 24-year sprint car career.
Cards can reach Dewease at Infinity Designs, 1500 East Main
Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Sprint car driver Duane Mausteller suffered a broken right leg
and ankle in a 358 sprint car crash at Selinsgove on Saturday.
Mausteller was racing in the B-main when the crash occurred.
Cards can reach him at Mausteller’s Service Center, 331 Scot
Avenue, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
