For the second time in three weeks, Pat Cannon rolled to
victory at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Cannon, of Etters piloted the Highlands Tire and
Service No. 3 Maxim to victory Saturday night at
Selinsgrove in the 25-lap 358 Sprint car feature.
The win marked the 12th career win for Cannon at the
Snyder county track and his second since rejoining the
team a few weeks ago. He had a runner-up finish last
week at the track.
Starting 12th, Cannon blasted his way to the front
early, moving into the top five by lap four.
He then caught race leader Matt Horst on lap 16 to make
the race winning pass and checked out from the field for
the win.
Blane Heimbach was second ahead of Horst, Matt Heimbach
and Phil Walter.
Track points leader Nate Snyder had his great run of
top 10 finishes end with a flip on the first lap.
Brett Schadel notched his second career win in the
25-lap late model feature over Tony Adams, points leader
Jeff Rine, Steve Campbell and Eric Hons.
Jason Smith won the pro stock feature over AJ Hoffman
and Chad Davis while Ricky Bender took both roadrunner
wins. He won the regular event as well as a makeup from
June 6th.
SMITH FINALLY WINS
Selinsgrove’s Mark Smith finally ended a winless streak
Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway.
Aboard the Brian Scandle owned, Brickers French Fries
machine, Smith took the lead from Daryl Stimeling on lap
16 of the 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature and held on for
his first win of the year. The win was the 30th of his
Port Royal career.
Stimeling finished second in the non stop event over
Greg Hodnett, Chad Layton and Mike Wagner.
After a dismal performance during Late Model Speedweek,
Scott Haus was back at home with another late model win
at the Port.
Haus took the lead with two laps to go and scored his
fifth track win over Chris Casner, Bryan Sipe, Scott
Flickinger and Jason Miller.
Enola’s Jason Fry won his first Super Sportsman Tour
feature of the season and first for car owner Mike
Callahan.
Fry took the lead on lap eight and never looked back in
the win over Eric Eckert, Mike Enders, David Socks and
Jay Fannasy.
YODER NABS HAGERSTOWN
Selinsgrove’s Jim Yoder captured his second career late
model feature win Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway.
After winning for the first ever time at the track last
March, Yoder went winless until Saturday night when he
turned in an impressive effort for a near two-second
margin of victory.
Frankie Plessinger tried to win the race for his father
Frank-who suffered a heart attack while working at the
track Saturday. Plessinger, who owns the track is in a
Baltimore area hospital. His son finished second in the
event over Roy Deese, Jr., Andy Anderson and Mike Lupfer.
Wayne Walls, Jr. topped late model sportsman action
with his first win of the season over Ashley Barrett,
Andy Fries, Bruce Kane and Kyle Lear.
Kenny Dillon was the pure stock winner and Krazy Kenny
Thomas won the Enduro.
RICHARDS WINS SPEEDWEEK
Despite missing the opening night race of the first
annual Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek, World
of outlaws regular Josh Richards captured the crown for
the series with a win Friday night at Bedford Speedway.
Richards used a final lap pass for the win at Bedford,
which also was good enough to secure the points title by
one point over Jeremy Miller for the week long series.
Richards defeated Rick Eckert, Jason Covert, DJ Myers
and Austin Hubbard on the track while the final points
were Richard (637), Miller(636), Hubbard (609), Covert
(586) and Myers (550).
Tim Smith, Jr. won the 358 late model main at Bedford
over Derek Byler, Daniel Cornman, Mike Duck and Travis
Stickley.
BARRICK TOPS PATH VALLEY
Newville’s Timmie Barrick raced to the 600 Micro sprint
car win Friday at Path Valley Speedway Park.
Barrick took the top spot on a restart when Jimmy
Brookens’ car did not come up to speed and drove off for
his first win of the year over Kevin Steele, Rodney
Glass, Travis Saner and Jesse Fitz.
Jason Houtz was the 270 Micro winner at Path Valley
over Ryan McAndrew, Levi Peck, Sean McAndrew and Colby
Dice.
Tim Mertz scored the Sidewinders win over Chad Myers,
Chad Hough, Alex Schanz and Craig Myers while Brad Kling
was the 358 late model winner over Tim Fedder, Kyle
Wiser, Scott Richwine and Rance Garlock. Other track
winners were John Rasp in the thundercars and Kevin
Thomas in the mini stocks.
OTHER WEEKEND ACTION
Brad McClelland won Friday’s 358 Sprint car feature at
Trail-Way Speedway over Logan Schuchart, Dale Hammaker,
Joe Trone, Jr. and Nick Palmerino.
Tim Dietz was the Saturday night 600 Micro Sprint
winner at Trail-Way over Robbie Kendall, Rodney Glass,
Josh Schrum and Isaac Sneeringer while Bill Laughman won
the 270 Micros over Nik Gower, Jim Still, Todd Hoover
and Andy Lucuson. Reed Salony was the Legends winner.
Carl Graves became the eighth different winner in as
many races in 358 late model action at Susquehanna
Speedway Park. He won over Steve Bailor, Gene Knaub,
Steve Billet and Alex Updegraff.
Garrett Shover won for the second time in street stock
action at SSP taking the checkered flag over Jim Palm,
Jr., Dustin Hollinger, Scott Thunberg and Doug Bennett.
The URC Sprint car feature was rained out on the
seventh lap of the feature Saturday at Grandview
Speedway. The race will be made up on July 25th.
