ABBOTTSTOWN
Jim Siegel was the class of the field Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway.

The New Oxford racer started ninth in the lineup and missed the big crash on lap seven and easily drove to his first win of the season in the 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature.

Siegel became the 12th different winner this season at the Abbottstown oval.

“I had  a real good start in the heat and the feature,” said Siegel, who has six career wins at Lincoln. “You gotta make it through your heat race and that’s tough to do. Once I got rolling out there, we were good and I felt good. We had a good car tonight.”

Siegel wasted little time in getting to the front and that’s a good thing because the weekly demolition derby was soon to take place during the early laps.

Bobby Weaver led the first four laps that were halted by two cautions.

The first caution saw Fred Rahmer and Danny Dietrich tangle and two laps later, Shawn Weaver crashed on the front stretch after contact with Aaron Ott.

Siegel blasted around Weaver to lead the fifth lap as last week’s winner Doug Esh had worked his way into fifth place after starting 12th.

Following a lap seven restart, Alan Krimes got into Esh in turn two causing a five-car melee. Esh and Chad Trout both got on their sides while Cory Haas, points leader Brian Montieth and Brian Leppo were also involved.

It was all Siegel after the restart as the final 18 laps went nonstop.

“I was bound and determined this week,” said Siegel. “I had a really good car last week and I kinda put myself in a little predicament on the start and got banged up. I just had a lot of drive this week because I wanted to come back and win. I feel I let one slip by last week.”

Ott, of East Berlin tried to close on Siegel over the final laps, but got too high and out of shape with two laps to go allowing Siegel to pull away even more for the win, worth $3,000.

“Confidence means so much in these cars and you gotta have confidence in yourself, your car and your team,” he added. “Any good race car driver will tell you that and right now my confidence is up there and we have a good car. We’ve been getting better each week.”

Siegel took the win aboard the Steve and Kitten Siegel owned N-Line Marketing, Bob Folk sponsored Maxim over Ott, Krimes, Ed Aiken and Niki Young.

Adam Lawrence made the feature as an alternate and finished in the sixth spot over Brent Marks, Weaver, Rahmer and Dietrich.

Trevor Lewis came from the 15th starting spot to track down leader Nick Schlauch, Jr. with two laps to go to take the win in the 25-lap URC Sprint car feature.

Lewis’ win was his third season in a car owned by Scott McClaren.

Schlauch was second over Randy West, Justin Collett, Danny Massey, Kramer Williamson, Josh Weller, Dave Gable, Davey Sammons and Andy Best.

Heats for the 29 410 Sprints were won by Weaver, Esh and Shawn Weaver with Marks winning the consolation.

URC heat winners were won by Jonathon Swanson, Best and West with Curt Michael the B-Main winner.

Lincoln returns to action next Saturday with the 358 Sprints, thundercars and 358 late models at 7pm.
