Adam Wilt and Mark Smith captured Twin 20’s for 410 Sprints Friday night
at Williams Grove Speedway and added their names as first time winners
this season at the track.
After waiting out a two hour rain delay, Wilt started on the front row
of the first 20 lapper and led the entire distance for his first career
track win.
In a feature that produced very little passing, Wilt took the checkered
over polesitter Gerard McIntyre, Jr., fifth starting Jim Siegel, sixth
starting Aaron Ott and fourth starting Brent Marks with Alan Krimes,
Mark Smith, Chris Meleason, Todd Shaffer and Chad Layton the top 10
finishers.
With the top 10 finishers inverted for the second feature, Shaffer led
early until Smith blew by on lap 16 to take the lead and drove off for
his first win of the season. Shaffer’s runner-up finish strengthened his
points lead with Layton, Marks, Cody Darrah, Siegel, Krimes, hard
charger Brian Leppo, Meleason and Ott the top 10.
Brian Montieth and Greg Hodnett both had tough nights resulting in
major point losses as they both look for their first career Grove title.
ITS ALL CANNON
For the sixth time this season and second straight week, Pat Cannon
came out on top of Saturday night Selinsgrove Speedway 358 sprint car
competition.
Aboard the Highlands Tire and Service Centers sprinter, the Etters
driver matched his 2008 win total with his 16th career track win.
He came from the 12th starting spot to take the lead on lap 18 from
Ryan Kissinger and drove off for the win over Kissinger, rookie Josh
Beard, Nate Snyder and Colby Womer. With his fourth place finish and
Blane Heimbach’s motor problems and 22nd place finish, Snyder regained
the track points lead with just a handful of races remaining.
Tony Adams won his first 25 lap late model feature of the season over
points leader Jeff Rine, Donnie Schick, Jeff Smith and Steve Campbell.
Jason Smith took his fifth pro stock win over AJ Hoffman, AJ Stroup,
Shaun Miller and Gerald Kratzer while Brad Mitch was the roadrunner
winner over Ricky Bender and Keith Bissinger.
SHAWVER GETS FIRST CAREER WIN
Al Shawver, Jr. raced to his first ever late model win Saturday night
at Hagerstown Speedway.
Not only did Shawver beat the competition, he and the track somehow
beat the rain to get the show completed.
Shawver took the lead on lap 12 and scored the win over Jim Yoder,
Brian Booze, points leader Roy Deese, Jr. and Mike Lupfer.
Steve Axtell, Jr. won for the first time this season in late model
sportsman action over Terry Flaherty, Jerry Bard, Andy Fries and Kyle
Lear.
Kevin Boyer won the pure stock main over Dave Stouffer, Mike
Warrenfeltz, Darrin Younker and Bobby Franklin.
TWO STRAIGHT FOR BEWARD AT PORT
After driving to a career first late model last week at Port Royal
Speedway, Gary Beward backed that up with his second straight win
Saturday night.
Beward took the lead on lap 11 and never looked back in his win over
Waylon Wagner, Tim Fedder, Andy Haus and 2009 late model point champion
Scott Haus.
Michael Wagner won the PASS 305 Sprint car feature with a late race
pass on Randy Kaylor. Kaylor, Reed Thompson, Joey Hershey and Nate
Gramley were the top five finishers.
EVERHART GETS SECOND WIN
Steve Everhart scored his second win of the season Friday night at
Bedford Speedway.
Everhart took the 25 lap late model win over DJ Troutman, DJ Myers,
Jeremy Miller and Chuck Clise were the top five finishers.
Derek Byler picked up his second limited late model win of the year
over Justin Kann, Brian Lesley, Mike Duck and Travis Stickley.
LOTS OF RAIN
Once again Mother Nature showed she isn’t a race fan as Friday rain
canceled shows at Trail-Way and Path Valley Speedway’s and Saturday
night programs at Lincoln, Williams Grove and Susquehanna Speedway’s.
