It was total domination for Greg Hodnett Saturday night at Port
Royal Speedway.
Fresh off a 19th to second place effort on Friday at Williams
Grove, Hodnett came back strong Saturday night taking control of the
25-lap 410 Sprint main on lap two and never looking back.
Hodnett’s 17th career win at the track came aboard the Jim and
Sandy Kline owned, J & S Fabrication, Macri Concrete, Eastern Air
Balance, Rock-It Pizza No. 22 Maxim.
Despite numerous cautions, Hodnett was the class of the field but
was glad the race didn’t go another lap as his sprinter ran out of
fuel as he was reporting to post race weigh-in.
Defending track champion Todd Shaffer was second over Dave Ely,
Justin Henderson and Bobby Breen.
Danville’s Jeff Rine scored his second straight win in the 20-lap
late model feature as he led all the way in his victory over Matt
Parks, Tim Wilson, Waylon Wagner and Scott Lebarron.
Gregg Foster took the lead from Mike Enders on lap 16 of the 20-lap
Super Sportsman feature and drove to the win over Enders, Bobby
Hockenberry, Frankie Herr and Chad Criswell.
HEIMBACH TAKES LAST LAP WIN
It was quite a finish in Saturday night’s 30-lap rescheduled 2009
National Open for 358 Sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Selinsgrove’s own Blane Heimbach took the lead on lap four and then
went wheel to wheel with Pat Cannon over the final four laps with
Heimbach racing on the top and Cannon running the low side of the
speedway.
Cannon was scored the leader on lap 29 but it was Heimbach to
gained control in turn two on the final circuit and then on to
defeat Cannon by a mere .27 of a second at the checkered flag.
The race was rained out last September and track officials decided
to reschedule for this season.
Heimbach’s win was the 30th of his career and was worth $3,000 to
the Creasy/Goff Motorsports team.
Last week’s winner TJ Stutts finished third over Jason Shultz and
early race leader Josh Beard.
Brad Mitch won the roadrunner feature over Cory Long, Kyle Miller,
Scott Dunham, Jr. and Erik Pinkerton.
KID ROCKETS OPENS WITH A WIN
Defending World of Outlaws late model champion Josh Richards opened
the 2010 Hagerstown Speedway season with a feature win Saturday
night.
Aboard the Ernie Davis owned machine, “Kid Rocket” won last year’s
season opener as well.
He took the lead on lap 16 and drove to the win over Frankie
Plessinger, Jamie Lathroum, Tyler Hershey and Mike Lupfer, who
started 14th.
Shippensburg’s Ashley Barrett started the late model sportsman
season on a good note as he picked up the 20 lap feature win.
Despite hitting the wall on the final lap, Barrett came out on top
of the thrilling event over Glenn Elliott, Michael Collins, Ryan
Walls and Wayne Walls, Jr.
Mike Warrenfeltz won the pure stock feature over Wayne Hawbaker,
Dave Stouffer, Steve Lowery and Darrin Younker.
MCCLELLAND TOPS TRAILWAY OPENER
Brad McClelland moved into a tie with Jeff Rohrbaugh for the
all-time leading sprint car winner at Trail-Way Speedway after his
opening night win Friday night.
McClelland took advantage of Rohrbaugh's late race flip to score
the win, his 21st career track win. Billy Dietrich was second over
Troy Becker, Tim Wagaman and Keith Prutzman.
Kyle Martin won the thundercar feature over Sam Gallagher, Brad
Shank, Justin Bittle and Brian Walls.
MICRO SPRINT ACTION
Tyler Walton and Jim Brookens split 600 Micro Sprint feature wins
Friday night at Path Valley Speedway Park.
Walton won a makeup feature that was rained out last Sunday over Timmie
Barrick, Travis Saner, Brookens and Zach Overmiller while Brookens
won the regular feature over Walton, Jim Young, Barrick and Shawn
Light.
Mark Watkins scored the PA 305 Sprint car win over Matt Mountz, Joe
Smith, Tyler Bear and Rocky Magaro.
Tim Mertz topped 270 Micro Sprint action winning over Colby Dice,
Jay Horvath, Brian Stevens and Kameron Morral.
Kyle Wiser (mini stocks) and DJ Keefer (thundercars) were other
track winners.
Trail-Way Speedway was in action on Saturday afternoon where it was
Skylar Felkner scored the 600 Micro Sprint win over Brookens, Robert
Kendall, Brad Weber and Shawn Seifert.
Nik Gower topped 270 Micro Sprint competition taking the win over
Jim Still, Dave Schreiber, Steven Cox and Dan LaMothe.
DJ Wykes powered to the win in Sidewinder 1000cc action over Joe
Robertson, Mark Strickler, Tracy Readinger and Jason Morrison.
PIT STOPS
Gene Knaub dominated Saturday night’s 20-lap 358 late model feature
at Lincoln Speedway taking the win over Mike Walls, Craig Wagaman,
Cam Zeigler and Duane Harbaugh.
