After two dismal performances against the World of Outlaws
Thursday and Friday, Tyler Walker and the Keen Motorsports
team came back strong Saturday night to score the feature
win at Port Royal Speedway.
Walker, who recently joined the Carlisle-based team after
starting the season with the Mike Heffner-owned team, took
the lead on lap 14 and captured the 25-lap 410 Sprint car
feature.
Walker and the rest of the teams had to wait out a long
night of excessive track grading to repair a bad racing
surface.
Michael Heckman led the first 13 laps before spinning out,
turning the lead over to Walker, of Los Angeles, California.
Walker then battled with Greg Hodnett, another driver who
had less than stellar WoO performances before taking his
second career win at the track. It was his first with his
new team.
Hodnett, Chad Layton, Justin Henderson and Mark Coldren
were the top five finishers.
Jim Bernheisel scored the 20-lap late model win over Scott
Haus, Scott Flickinger, Bryan Bernheisel and Mitch Hack.
The Super Sportsman and pro stock features were postponed
due to curfew and will be made up.
LEWIS WINS THRILLER
In nearly repeat fashion as the 2009 Jack Gunn Memorial
Challenge for the URC Sprints and the 358 Sprint cars at
Selinsgrove Speedway, URC regular Trevor Lewis made a final
turn pass on Pat Cannon to steal the big payday in the
30-lap event.
Cannon, who set a new one lap track record in time trials
took the lead on lap four and stayed out front until the
final lap, when Lewis, who started third snuck underneath
and won the drag-race to the checkered flag and win the
$3,500 top prize. Cannon nursed a car with a broken spindle
over the final portion of the race.
Kevin Nouse finished third ahead of Nate Snyder and Blane
Heimbach.
Jeff Rine made it four straight in late model action at the
track as he came from his 12th starting spot to take the
lead on lap 21 and never looked back in the win over Tony
Adams, Steve Campbell, Jim Yoder and Jeff Smith.
Jason Smith won his second pro stock feature event over AJ
Hoffman, Dave Brouse, Jr., AJ Stroup and Cody McFadden.
CLEAN SWEEP FOR RICHARDS
Defending World of Outlaws late model champion made a clean
sweep of two east coast sanctioned events as he won Thursday
night’s WoO event at Delaware International Speedway and
backed that up with another win Saturday night at Hagerstown
Speedway.
Richards led the first 17 laps of the Conococheague 100 at
Hagerstown before losing the lead to Steve Francis on lap
18. Richards regained the lead and drove to the $10,000 win
over Darrell LAnigan, Francis, Jason Covert and Nick
Dickson.
Mike Warrenfeltz won the pure stock main over Brian Miller,
Danny Beavers, Charlie Pensinger and Steve Lowery.
Richards’ win at Delaware came over Brady Smith, Francis,
Austin Hubbard and Dale McDowell.
JONES REPEATS AT SUSKY
Defending track champion Jake Jones became the first repeat
winner in Susquehanna Speedway Park 358 late model action
Saturday night.
Jones, of Shermansdale missed a big first lap crash and
inherited the lead on lap six and drove to his second win of
the season over Justin Ehrhart, DJ Groft, Gary Potts and
Jason Rochelle.
