Nobody
asked me but…
We hope that the summer racing season is aided with great weather unlike
last season when Mother Nature won way too many races. Tracks depend on good
weather to bring out the fans so hopefully this year will be a good one.
It’s pretty neat that 16 different drivers have won a 410 Sprint car
feature in Central Pennsylvania so far this season and we are only at the
end of May. We are very lucky to have so many great teams right here in our
own backyard and it would be very cool if that list could grow to at least
30 by seasons end. That’s how many different drivers won a feature last
season in the area.
One of the drivers that is without a win so far in 2010 is Doug Esh, driver
of the Trone Outdoor sprinter. Esh had three wins last season before going
on the sidelines with his back injury and so far 2010 hasn’t been very kind
to the team.
Mark Smith’s win Friday at Williams Grove Speedway was a much needed boost
for the team that has struggled with motor woes all season long.
It’s a sign of the times for most race tracks pulling the plug on a racing
program when there is a forecast of rain coming in later in the day or
night. Selinsgrove was the first track to cancel last Saturday’s program due
to the threat of rain. Port Royal canceled as soon as it started raining
around 4pm as did Hagerstown. Lincoln made an effort like always but the end
result was everyone sitting around for several hours watching the radar and
waiting to see when the next band of rain would hit before canceling at 8pm.
It’s a tough call folks.
For me, and I know this certainly isn’t the views of everyone, when the
forecast looks the way it does and with so much rain headed in our
direction, cancel the show and save me a wasted night. But probably 15 years
ago, I wouldn’t have felt the same way.
What was up with Tuesday afternoon rumors? I think my cell phone rang 10
times and about 100 texts later, we had no less than three drivers leaving
their current team or getting fired. But in the end, it appears it was
nothing more than people starting useless rumors and spreading them like
weeds.
KEYSTONE CUP

at Grandview Speedway, Hagerstown Speedway will host night number two
Thursday night followed by Friday night action at Williams Grove, Saturday
at Lincoln, Sunday at Selinsgrove and Monday at Port Royal.

champion.
PIT STOPS
The Super Sportsman have a two race weekend with Saturday night action at
the Grove and Sunday night at Selinsgrove. It will be the first two-race
weekend of the season for the division, which will help with the weekly
driver rankings!
The World of Outlaw late models are in action Friday at Bedford Speedway
while the Three State Flyers are in action Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway
for the Richard Bonebrake Tribute race.
Late model racer Jeremy Miller had a great weekend with a Friday night win
at Bedford and a Sunday night win at Susquehanna. No other SSP results were
made available by the track…
Jason Meyers won his fifth WoO Sprint main last weekend at I-96 Speedway
over Craig Dollansky, Jason Sides, Joey Saldana and Chad Kemenah. The
Outlaws invade the Dirt Track at Charlotte Friday night and will be shown
live on the Speed Channel beginning at 8pm.
