Barr/Hake Split Twin Sportsman Mains At The Port

 Rick Barr came out on top of a thrilling late race battle with Frankie Herr to win his first Super Sportsman feature of the year Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway.

 Barr, of Camp Hill, started sixth in the field and inherited the lead on lap 13 when racer leader John Stehman flipped.

 Barr then traded slide jobs with Herr,  before driving to the win aboard his Mach-1 chassis.

 Herr finished second ahead of Russ Mitten, points leader Carmen Perigo, Jr. and Jay Fannasy.

 Lanny Hake won the makeup Sportsman feature that was rained out earlier this year. Hake’s win was his first since the 2007 racing season. Eric Eckert, Scott Dellinger, Perigo and Fannasy were the top five finishers.

 New Cumberland’s Mike Hess won his first late model feature in several seasons as he came out on top of the 20-lap event over points leader Scott Haus, Gary Beward, Mitch Hack and Waylon Wagner.

 Tim Krape won his first pro stock main over Jason Zook, Derick Garman, Harold Ranck and John Heane.


DUNCAN CLAIMS FIRST WIN
 New Oxford’s Mike Duncan, Jr. won his first career 358 Sprint car feature Friday at Trail-Way Speedway.

 While chaos took place behind him, Duncan was able to stay out front and score the win over Tim Wagaman, Dale Hammaker, Steve Owings and Brad McClelland.

 Sam Gallagher won the thundercar feature over Will Walls, Brian Walls, Justin Bittle and Rick Weaver.

 Travis Scott won the 600 Micro Sprint feature at Trail-Way on Saturday over Isaac Sneeringer and Tim Dietz while Bill Laughman won the 270 Micros over Brian Marriott and Matt Bower.

 Lucas Montgomery was the Legends car winner over Bill Diehl and Harlon Leppo.


KNAUB SCORES AT SUSKY
 Dover’s Gene Knaub raced to his second win of the season in Saturday’s 358 late model main at Susquehanna Speedway Park. The win was the eighth overall win for Knaub this season.

 He took the lead on lap 10 and drove to the win over Randy Christine, Jr., Jake Jones, Carl Billet and Larry Baer.

 Bob Scott, Jr. won for the second time in street stock action over Randy Zechman and Sam Rial while Donnie Broderick was back in victory lane in Xtreme Stock car action over  Jason Failor.


OTHER WEEKEND ACTION
 Rain postponed feature racing at Selinsgrove Speedway Saturday night. Kyle Bachman was declared the pro stock winner after 14 laps were completed. The Late Model Championship will be made up next Saturday and the 358 Sprint car makeup date will be announced later this week.

 The Three State Flyers late model series had a big weekend with a Friday night show at Potomac Speedway where Jeremy Miller took the $4,000 payday over Keith Jackson, Josh Richards, Jamie Lathroum and Austin Hubbard.

 Richards came back to win Saturday’s Mike Clore Memorial Three state Flyers event at Winchester Speedway over JT Spence, Miller, Jason Covert and DJ Myers.

 Mechanicsburg’s Rodney Westhafer won a makeup 305 Sprint car event Friday at Path Valley Speedway over Matt Mountz and Joe Smith while Ryan Lynn won the regularly scheduled 305 Sprint feature over Tyler Bear and Joe Smith.

 Sean McAndew won the 270 race at Path Valley over Ryan McAndew and  Levi Peck while Jim Young was the 600 Micro winner over Tyler Walton and Kameron Morral. Tim Fedder was the late model winner, Mark Grove won the min stocks and DJ Keefer was the thundercar winner.
Lincoln Speedway canceled its Sunday night 410 Sprint program due to heavy storms and the loss of power at the facility.
