It’s hard
to believe but Williams Grove Speedway will call it a season this Saturday
night.
After a long grueling season, the FallFest will bring an end to the 2007
racing season at the Mechanicsburg facility.
The FallFest is a features only event for the 410 Sprints (25 laps), Super
Sportsman (20 laps), 358 Sprints (20 laps) and 358 late models (20 laps).
Race time is 6 p.m.
Thomasville’s Greg Hodnett has taken a liking to the event winning four out
of the five seasons the event was held. He won in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and
then won last season for his first win in the Jim and Sandy Kline owned No.
22. Todd Shaffer, the 2007 track champion won the first ever FallFest back
in 2001. It was rained out in 2005.
Hodnett will be looking for his area-leading 13th overall win this Saturday
night.
Drivers have been invited for the features-only event.
As of Tuesday night, 19 410 teams have committed to the event. Todd
Shaffer, Doug Esh, Greg Hodnett, Fred Rahmer, Lucas Wolfe, Mark Smith, Mike
Erdley, Lance Dewease, Brian Montieth, Don Kreitz, Jr., Kevin Nouse, TJ
Stutts, Chad Layton, Steve Buckwalter, Rich Eichelberger, Cody Darrah, AJ
Michael, Alan Cole and Bob Howard are entries.
In the 358 Sprints, 18 drivers have confirmed an entry including Pat
Cannon, Adrian Shaffer, Cory Haas, Billy Johns, John Westbrook, Chad Trout,
Frankie Herr, Nate Hammaker, Adam Wilt, Chad Criswell, Gerard McIntyre, Dale
Hammaker, Jay Galloway, Mike Walter, Derek Locke, Tim Higgins and Kyle
Pruitt.
So far the Super Sportsman division is the most supportive of the show with
23 starters as of Tuesday night. In the field will be Frankie Herr, Rich
Eichelberger, John Stehman, Paul Miller, Carmen Perigo, Jr., Gregg Foster,
Duaine Smith, Bobby Hockenberry, Jason Fry, Danny Hager, Scott Dellinger,
John Stoner, Leroy Martin, Ryan Rupp, Mike Enders, Stan Wanner, David Socks,
Rocky Magaro, Glenn Keller, Steve Fannasy, Jake Raudabaugh, Russ Mitten and
Dave Berkheimer.
Nineteen 358 late models are on the grid so far including Tyler Hershey,
Gene Knaub, Tyler Armstrong, Jake Lettich, Travis Mease, Larry Baer, Shaun
Jones, Pat Beard, Mike Walls, Mike Spangler, Steve Weikel, DJ Mease, Zach
Kauffman, Randy Sheaffer, Dave Sokoloski, Matt Nailor, Tom Blackwell, John
Ebersole and Bernie Beard.
CLOSE TO CLINCHING
Donny Schatz is close to clinching his second straight World of Outlaws
championship.
Schatz won for the 19th overall time last weekend as he won the PolyDome
Princeton Nationals at Princeton Speedway in Minnesota. He earned $10,000
for the win.
Heading into this weekend’s Dave Helm Memorial in Tulare, California,
Schatz holds a 90-point advantage over Joey Saldana for the lucrative title.
Saldana finished second at Princeton followed by Kerry Madsen, Tim Shaffer
and Justin Henderson.
The Outlaws race Saturday in Tulare.
The Outlaws are gearing up for the big event the first weekend of November
in Charlotte and will be joined by several teams from Central Pennsylvania.
The J & S Fabrication team and driver Greg Hodnett are headed south as well
as Lucas Wolfe and the Allebach owned team, Doug Esh and the Leach
Motorsports team, Stevie Smith and the RAACE Foundation team, Chad Layton
and the Pete’s Motorsports team and Fred Rahmer and the CJB Motorsports
owned team.

Path Valley Speedway concludes its season Friday night with micro sprints
and stock cars beginning at 7 p.m…
Trail-Way Speedway will feature the 358 late models tomorrow night in the
Fall 40 lapper paying $1,000 to win. The thundercars and street stocks will
be going in a 20 lap feature paying $400 to win. It’s the final race of the
year at the track…
URC will be in action Saturday at New Egypt Speedway. Curt Michael has
already clinched his fourth straight URC title with two races remaining on
the schedule. Michael finished fourth at Rolling Wheels on Sunday night in
the URC/ESS Sprint Challenge won by Chuck Hebing…
Ricky Elliott was the Saturday night winner of the Big Kahuna VII MACS Late
Model race at the Rock, Allegany County Speedway. York Haven’s Jason Covert
won the MACS championship for a second straight season…
Upcoming races include next Saturday’s finale at Lincoln for the 410
Sprints and thundercars, the Five 25s at Grandview Speedway next Saturday
night, the fourth annual Miller’s Racing Parts Fall Classic at Susquehanna
Speedway next Friday and Saturday and the season ending Octoberfest 350 at
Hagerstown Speedway the final weekend of the month…
