Todd Shaffer opened Port Royal Speedway’s season in
dominating fashion Saturday night.
The Millerstown driver drew the number two starting
spot for the feature and never looked back as he
drove to his 84th career win at the Juniata County
track.
Shaffer’s win came aboard the Gary and Patty
Beam-owned, Village Square Plaza, J & K Racing
Collectibles, McCoy Brothers, Hower & Associates
Jack Gaughn Realtor No. 88 JEI Chassis.
Mark Smith chased Shaffer to the finish with Lance
Dewease third, Mechanicsburg’s Lucas Wolfe fourth
and defending track champion Mike Erdley fifth.
Kevin Nouse finished ninth in the BG Motorsports
sprinter.
Dan Stone recorded the 20-lap late model win over
Scott Haus, Matt Parks, Mike Hess and Tim Fedder.
Carlisle’s Frankie Herr won the first Super
Sportsman feature of the season. Herr took the win
over Rich Eichelberger, Scott Dellinger, Rick Barr
and Jason Fry. Newville’s Russ Mitten was sixth and
Mechanicsburg’s Dave Berkheimer 14th.
Tim Krape was the pro stock winner over Terry
Naugle and Bill Powell.
FLAMMER WINS CAREER FIRST
New Jersey racer Scott Flammer led all 25 laps of
Selinsgrove Speedway’s 358 Sprint car feature
Saturday night to record his first ever win in the
division.
Flammer, a former modified racer started on the
front row and despite contact with a slower car late
in the race, Flammer was able to bring home the win
on opening night at the track.
Etters driver Pat Cannon started 10th in the
Highlands Tire Service entry and finished in the
runner-up spot. He fell a second short of Flammer’s
winning time.
Phil Walter was third over Duane Mausteller and
Kyle Bachman. Carlisle’s Jason Shultz finished ninth
with Carlisle’s Dave Calaman 15th.
Chris Shuey topped the 25-lap late model feature
over Tony Adams, Jeff Rine, Donnie Schick and Dustin
Hoffman while Larry Hare won the pro stock main and
Donnie Murphy captured the roadrunner feature.
MILLER SCORES FIRST WIN
Littlestown’s Jeremy Miller raced to his first late
model win of the season Saturday at Hagerstown
Speedway.
Last year’s leading in the area started on the
front row and led the entire distance for his 22nd
career win at Hagerstown. Miller’s win came after a
dismal performance in his first race of the season
Friday at Williams Grove.
J.T. Spence raced home second over Gary Stuhler,
Brian Booze and Billy Decker. Shermansdale’s Mike
Lupfer finished 13th.
Tim Fuller took the lead on lap 33 of the 100-lap
Super DIRT series event and raced home the $6,000
winner.
Brett Hearn was second over Gary Tompkins, Billy
Decker and Rick Laubach,
SIX PATH VALLEY WINNERS
Six different winners graced victory lane on
opening night Friday at Path Valley Speedway.
Mike Dicely inherited the lead on the ninth lap of
600 Micro sprint feature when Mechanicsburg’s Chad
Hough got tangled in lapped traffic while leading
the event. Hough rejoined the tail of the field and
finished eighth as Dicely scored the win over
Newport’s Tyler Walton, Heath Hehnly, Jimmy Brookens
and Jim Young. Carlisle’s Greg Kone finished 12th
and Newville’s Timmie Barrick was 15th.
Mike Freet was the 305 sprint car winner over
Dillsburg’s Todd Spangler, Michael Wagner, Wes
Zimmerman and Jeff Sell.
Tom Tice took the 270 Micro Sprint win over Randy
Morrall, Colby Dice, J.D. Abrahams and Tyler DeVault.
Other winners at PVSP were John Rasp in the
thundercars, Jimmy Glenn in the Sidewinders and
Kevin Thomas in the mini stocks.
BURRITT AND PERCHAK TOP LINDAS
Lex Burritt raced home the opening night 600 Micro
Sprint car winner Friday at Linda’s Speedway
followed by Brett Schoenly, Mike Rutherford, Sam
Hernhauser and Terry Schaeffer.
In the 270 Micros, Ross Perchak captured the win
over Pat Bealer, Sean McAndrew, Terry Schaeffer and
Jesse Maurer.
GROVE RAINED OUT SUNDAY
Rain forced Williams Grove to cancel Sunday night’s
Super Sportsman, late model, street stocks and four
cylinders. The Sportsman join the 410 Sprints on
Friday night while the Saturday night series returns
on April 14.
