Will A Posse Keep The Money At Home During The Summer Nationals?

By Brad Vores July 19, 2007

It’s round two for the World of Outlaws versus the Pennsylvania Posse.

And there is some big money at stake in this weekend’s Cleveland Brothers Summers Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway.

This week’s Summer Nationals will be the seventh annual event with each side holding three victories in the $20,000 to win Saturday night finale.

Greg Hodnett won the initial Summer Nationals back in 2002 with Donny Schatz winning in 2003. The finale was rained out in 2004 so preliminary night winners Lance Dewease and Danny Lasoski were co -champions.

Fred Rahmer picked up the win in 2005 and last year it was Daryn Pittman dominating the weekend with his biggest career win. That evened the score at three wins for the Outlaws and three wins for the Posse.

 Who will win the seventh?

Will there be a repeat winner? There very well could be.

Schatz came into the Grove for the May swing and sent the Posse home winless as he won both nights of the WoO tour that weekend.
Schatz is the leading winner on the Outlaw tour this season and leads the points looking for his second straight tour championship. He has been the man to beat at the Grove over the past five years and could take home the big money this weekend.

Who will step to the front as the leader of the Posse this weekend?

Greg Hodnett always puts himself into position in time trial races and leads the area with nine wins in the J & S Fabrication Racing sprinter. Hodnett is coming off a great Speedweek series where he topped out over $28,000 in money and second in points.

Lucas Wolfe has been awfully good this season, especially in time trial events.

Wolfe is coming off an impressive week for the Pennsylvania Speedweek championship and has three wins heading into Outlaw weekend in the Allebach Racing sprinter.

Joey Saldana has had a great season in the Kasey Kahne Racing sprinter and is staying within 100 points of Schatz for the battle for the lucrative WoO title. Saldana seems to struggle when the Outlaws hit the Grove soil.

A large field of cars is expected for the Summer Nationals with preliminary night action tonight and tomorrow night. Both night’s will pay $5,000 to win the 25-lap feature and points will be accumulated both nights for the Saturday night Summer Nationals.
