ABBOTTSTOWN
It’s Hammer Time!

After destroying the competition Friday night at Williams Grove, Esh blew away the field for his first win of the year Saturday at Lincoln Speedway.

Esh came from the 12th starting spot to pass leader Jeff Busby following a lap 12 restart and never looked back in earning his 16th career win in the Pigeon Hills.

Due to a late start because of rain and more threatening weather on its way, there was no victory lane interview following the 410 Sprint feature.

AJ Michael led the first five laps when Danny Murray brought out a yellow flag.

Busby, last week’s winner drove into the lead on the restart and led until lap nine when a red flag slowed the field when third place running Joe Ilg flipped as well as Nick Schlauch, Jr. Neither driver was injured.

Busby maintained the top spot as Esh moved into the top five on lap nine as his march to the front continued.

Esh moved into the runner-up spot on lap 12 just before a yellow for Johnny Mackison, who stopped on the track in his first appearance of the season.

Esh blasted around the outside of Busby on the restart and set sail in his Leach Brothers Motorsports No. 30 sprinter.

Not even a lap 21 yellow for Michael, who spun in turn four could slow the Lancaster driver’s mission for the big win, his first this year after winning the 2006 track championship.

Esh’s third overall win of the season guaranteed him a starting spot in next Saturday night’s Dream Race Extreme at Port Royal Speedway. That race pays $30,000 to win.

Busby, of Bridgeville, Delaware finished a strong second trailed by track points leader Fred Rahmer of Salfordville, East Berlin’s Niki Young and New Oxford’s Brian Leppo.

TJ Stutts returned with a strong run after destroying a car Friday night to finish sixth over Cris Eash, Alan Krimes, 23rd starter Greg Hodnett and Brian Montieth.

Pat Cannon returned to Victory lane in the 20-lap 358 sprint car feature.

Aboard the Highlands Tire Service sprinter, Cannon started 12th and raced into the lead on lap 14 and never looked back in his third win in just four career Lincoln starts. It was his second win this season.

Paul Hively III finished second over Jay Galloway, Cory Haas and Aaron Ott.

Biglerville’s Nat Tuckey won for the 10th time in thundercar action over Duane Watson, Mike Zeigler, Sr., Mike Zeigler, Jr. and Mike Slaybaugh.

Sprint car heats were won by Michael, Doug Dodson and Josh Wells. There were 25 cars on hand.

Jessie Morrison, Paul Hively III, Nick Palmerino and Jay Galloway were 358 sprint car heat winners. Adam Wilt and Todd Rittenhouse were the two consolation winners. There were 44 358 sprints on hand.

Lincoln returns to action Wednesday night with the John Gleim Excavating 55th Anniversary for 410 Sprints. Racing begins at 7p.m.
