Pat
Cannon switched up his normal Saturday night agenda and invaded
Lincoln Speedway for the first time this season .
And the end result was Cannon, of Etters driving the Zane and Vicki
Highlands owned No. 3 to victory lane in the 20-lap 358 Sprint car
feature.
Cannon stormed from the 12th starting spot into the lead on the
17th lap and drove away for his second career win there. He also won
in his only other appearance at the track in the 358 sprints last
season. It was the fifth overall win for the Highlands team in 2007
in the Highlands Tire & Service Center, H & H Chevrolet, Newville
Construction Services, Boiling Springs Service Center, Baish’s
Garage sponsored sprinter.
Chad Myers led the first 16 laps and finished second ahead of Adam
Wilt, Dillsburg’s Scott Geesey and Tim Wagaman. Mechanicsburg’s
Derek Locke finished 12th, Dillsburg’s John Westbrook 13th and
Mechanicsburg’s Todd Reed 21st. There were 49 358 sprints pitside
Saturday night.
Dillsburg’s Rich Eichelberger turned his luck around on the Super
Sportsman tour as he raced to his second win in three tries this
season at Lincoln.
Eichelberger advanced from 10th into the lead by lap 16 and never
looked back in the win over Paul Miller, Mike Enders, Leroy Martin
and Summerdale’s Jason Fry. Carlisle’s Frankie Herr finished eighth,
Locke ninth, Summerdale’s JR Fry 11th, Enola’s Craig Morrown 12th,
Newville’s Russ Mitten 16th, Dillsburg’s Ryan Rupp 21st and
Dillsburg’s Aaron Eichelberger 23rd.
Spring Grove racer Mike Spangler raced to his first career 358 late
model win at Lincoln after taking the lead from Jake Lettich on the
seventh lap.
He drove to the win over Bobby Beard, Shermansdale’s Shaun Jones,
Bernie Beard and Gene Knaub. Newville’s Dave Sokoloski was 12th and
Shippensburg’s Jerry Bard 13th.
Duane Watson and Nat Tuckey were thundercar feature winners.
SPENCE GETS HAGERSTOWN FIRST
JT Spence turned his dry spell around by winning for the first time
this year in late model racing Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway.
Spence, who recently picked up a big $10,000 win in Winchester,
Virginia, was fast Saturday, coming from his 10th starting spot into
the lead on the 14th lap and driving to the win.
Kirk Ryan, Jr. continued his hard charges from the back of the pack
finishing second after starting 20th with third going to Ronnie
DeHaven, Jr., Bo Feathers and Keith Jackson. Shermansdale’s Mike
Lupfer finished 18th.
Al Shawver, Sr., won the late model sportsman feature over Terry
Flaherty, Kyle Lear, Andy Fries and Barry Miller while Mark Jones
topped the Eddie Cornett Memorial for pure stocks.
DICKSON TOPS OPEN
Nick Dickson came out on top of a strong field of late models to
win Saturday night’s 30-lap Salem RV Late Model Open at Selinsgrove
Speedway.
Dickson led the entire distance for the $2,500 payday over Chris
Shuey, Scott Haus, Jeff Rine and Jeff Smith.
Mike Walter won for the second time this year in the 358 Sprint car
main over Carlisle’s Dave Calaman, Blane Heimbach, Len Krautheim and
Alan Spriggle. Carlisle’s Jason Shultz was 17th.
AJ Stroup was the pro stock winner and Donnie Murphy topped another
roadrunner event.
SITES CLAIMS 50th CAREER WIN
Kory Sites drove to his third win of the year in Saturday night
street stock action at Susquehanna Speedway Park and it was the 50th
time the Harrisburg driver visited victory lane in his career.
Sites battled side by side with Steve Dove for eight laps before
taking the lead on lap 12 and driving to the win over Dove, Todd
Bowersox, Craig Morgan and Newville’s Wes Alleman. Carlisle’s Brian
Hauenstein was sixth and Newville’s Gary Johnston 11th.
Bud Witmer was the winner of the 358 late model feature over Steve
Billet, Shermansdale’s Jake Jones, Carlisle’s Scott Richwine and
Kyle Saylor. Carlisle’s Carl Billet was 19th.
Mike Goodwin took the Xtreme Stock car win ahead of Shippensburg
driver Charlie Pensinger.
Wellsville’s John Stoll, Jr won the Xtreme Stock Rookie Rumble and
finished fourth in 4-cylinder action with Grant Adams taking the win
in that race.
DIETRICH CLAIMS SECOND WIN
Bill Dietrich raced to his second win of the season in the 358
Sprint car main Friday at Trail-Way Speedway.
Dietrich came from 10th starting spot into the lead with 20 laps
complete and drove to the win over Brad McClelland, Randy Whisler,
Eric Tomecek and Dan Carrozza. Carlisle’s Jake Raudabaugh finished
11th.
Craig Wagaman was the thundercar winner and Doug Bennett topped
the street stocks.
OTHER WEEKEND ACTION
Jack Pencil topped Bedford Speedway late model action Friday night
winning the Bob Sweitzer Memorial over Andy Martz, Coleby Frye, Eric
Zembower and Greg Fetters.
Tim Smith, Jr. was the Bedford limited late model winner over
Newville’s Donnie Farling, Jr. and Craig Perigo.
York Haven’s Jason Covert picked up a $5,000 late model win Tuesday
night at Eriez Speedway.
Craig Robinson was the Friday night PA 305 Sprint car winner at
Path Valley Speedway Park oer Wes Zimmerman, Brent Comp, Doug
Distasio and Mark Watkins. Boiling Springs racer Craig Laudermilch
was 11th.
Alex Schanz was the 600 Micro winner at PVSP over Jesse Snyder,
Tyler Walton, Brianna Hershey and Isaac Sneeringer. Sneeringer won
the wingless 600 micro main over Snyder and Zach Newlin. Timmie
Barrick did not start either feature.
Sean McAndrew picked up the 270 Micro win over Tom Tice and Levi
Peck while John Rasp won the thundercars, Ralph Morgan, Jr won the
mini stocks and Kerry Schanz was the Sidewinders 1000cc winner.
